Who I Am
I am a retired school nurse, now a part time artist (gerriharveyart.com) living in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. I was a school nurse for 24 years working with children in grades Pre-school through eighth grade. Before becoming a school nurse I had experience in both acute care and ambulatory care settings working with both the adult and pediatric population.
There are many excellent resources for school nurses around best practices when it comes to the science of school nursing, but many of our most challenging situations have more to do with the art of school nursing, and my goal is to provide perspectives that support current and future school nurses in embracing the art as well as the science of our indiciplinary nursing specialty, for I believe we must have both in the complex world we live in today.

I am recreating my former site School Nurse Perspectives, which I published online for 15 years before I retired it. After receiving many requests for resources I had previously posted there, I am recreating my former site and most of the articles here were previously published by me, though you will find some new ones too. My hope is that you will find ideas and resources here to help you afffirm, appreciate, redefine or re-envision your role, because yours is one of the most challenging but important in the world. And I am so proud that I was one of you!
